Type(Cast)Away

Strange to see the kind of social interaction that takes place these days.. communicating has become a lot more complicated than just walking up to a person and talking even with people you see and interact with everyday. Let me explain with a scenario

disclaimer: A true story follows all charectors in the story are real people albeit a little hyper bordering insane.

--scene set in an apartment with 24/7 high speed internet--
A bunch of friends are hanging out together something funny happens… Guy #1 cracks a joke about Guy #5 who is not at the scene. Guy #2 goes "hey am gonna put that on facebook"
Guy #1 says " yeah put it up and I'll comment on it"
--after the comment is posted Guy #3 calls and says--
"u know what I'm gonna post so and so comment on this and you reply to my comment okay?".
Guy#4 says " hey call Guy # 5 and ask him to look at it… cos the jokes on him.
--end scene--
Heights of social interaction, face-to-face, phone and facebook. I don’t think mark zuckerberg envisioned this for facebook!

Even people sitting in the same room sometimes type out their thoughts in a FB comment rather than just saying it out loud. I have been on both sides of this phenomenon, and I feel utterly foolish after this interaction but somehow its strangely funny and satisfying, hmmm… just for a minute though after that its back to foolish. Its like we have a log of everything said and done and someone is going to validate it.

I'm just guessing but I know somewhere this is exactly what is happening.

Mom: Status update on Facebook "just made dinner for the family.. awesome chicken curry and hot chapathis"

Son : comments " wow.. I'll be down in a minute"

Father: Comments " wait up don’t start without me"

Son: Likes his fathers commment!!!!

We are becoming a generation of typists. I wonder if they will start teaching shorthand from 1st grade.

Moral of the story: jet set and be abreast with the FB, Twitter generation.. but once in a while tap someone in the back and enjoy a healthy "verbal" dialogue. Just every now and then (once a week is not so bad)so that you don’t completely forget the art of talking!

Steve Jobs- The iCon, The Legend!

I cannot imagine a world without the innovative genius that is Steve Jobs. His extraordinary talent, his drive and passion to design and build the most revolutionary products in the world has inspired us.

His products have literally put the world in our palms not to mention the pleasure and happiness derived from the sheer touch of these products. The iPod, the iMac, the iPhone and the iPad are truly the stroke of a genius that could never have been conceived by any other. Animation took a whole new form with Pixar. He breathed life into the characters. They made us laugh they made us cry. Now each and every one of them will shed a tear for Steve.

The world has lost a wizard, a god of innovation and I have personally lost someone who I have always admired, awed and strived to be like. His words have made me look at the meaning of life and strive to do more with it. Thank you for making the world a better place and surrounding us with extraordinary creations.
